Fire Wind Scifi Western The Wind Drifters Series Book 1 edition by Guy Stanton III Literature Fiction eBooks

"Fire Wind is the beginning of a series of western science fiction novels that feature adventure, action, and faith. Christian Speculative Fiction - learn to love it!" This is how Guy introduces his new genre-shredding Wind Drifter series. Of course, he forgot to mention intense spiritual warfare. This one is up to the standards of his epic Christian action/adventure, fantasy, science fiction, romances in The Warrior Kind series. That's saying a lot for one of the worst things foisted on our readers at this time--the novella. I hate short books. Whereas The Warrior Kind novels range from 175 to 250 pages, this new series comes in at 90 to 100, so far. So, these are very intense 4-5 hour reads for an evening.

Prepare yourself! This is not a normal western

Guy's books always wreak havoc with genre. This one was enough of a surprise that I reread it a few weeks later and got a lot more out of it. Several times I was on the edge of shouting Alleluia! But I kept it quiet. There's no sense in startling the wife and the dogs. The only thing missing in this first book of the series is one of Guy's intense Biblical romances. [There's one coming in book 2 of the Wind Drifter series.]

Spiritually, the content is not explicitly Christian

However, the spiritual truths which are at the heart of the story certainly are. To a believer, I find myself deeply satisfied. It's gritty and violent, though clean and never gratuitous. The evil is strongly spiritual as well as physical. I cannot recommend this new series highly enough. Mature teen and older.

Fire Wind Scifi Western The Wind Drifters Series Book 1 edition by Guy Stanton III Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

this book is fast paced as well as makes you understand the main people in the story. don't agree with all the theology but it is fiction and I read it as such. worth the read. 😀
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although this is the first Western Sci-Fi book I've ever read and was surprised by the Science Fiction content, The two genres worked wonderfully to create an exciting tale of good and evil. The characterizations are heartfelt and the story is told with a unique twist. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
I liked it a lot. Especially the beginning where he helps the Indians from being killed off by the group of men. I thought the girl was going to die when she got shot. But it just goes to show that modern medicine is not always the answer. Most of the time I don't read sci fi but this book was cool.
This is a very different book that reminded me dimly of the film, COWBOYS AND ALIENS, but with its own distinct quirkiness. In spite of this similarity, the plot is really creative.

Technically, I am happy to report that the author appears to have run the spell-checker, at least, but there are still occasional homonyms, and an odd, consistent refusal to capitalize "Indian," a proper noun. He should hire a copy editor, at least, to review the manuscript.
Interesting -even weird - story line, but the writing style is so poor that it is very difficult to grasp without re-reading sentences several times. Incorrect use of words, fragments, run-on sentences, and missing or misplaced/misused punctuation abound throughout the book and cause confusion.

Add some strange theology, and the result is a very implausible work. I've known some who hold to the Gap Theory and have studied it fairly extensively, but this interpretation of it is the strangest I've ever come across.u

I waded through the entire book to see where the story and theology were going, but left with frustration and dissatisfaction. It is not what I would consider a good-read.
I have probably said this already, but I will say it again, Guy is a rarity as a Christian fiction writer. He definitely thinks " outside of the box" and you don't have to guess or wonder if his books are Christian. They are not preachy, but they are definitely anointed. The redemption that is shown in this story is amazing. Not only is the redemptive power really good, but the way he strings this story together is AWESOME! I love that it was a western and had some elements of sci-fi. I was thoroughly engrossed with Fire Wind, I could even imagine it being a weekly television series. If you have not read one of Guy's books you are missing a out on a treat.
I am sorry to say this, but the grammar and sentence structure of this book made we want to delete it after the first few paragraphs. I kept reading, just in case it was just a fluke opening. Why do people think they can put a good idea for a book on paper, and not hire an editor or proofreader? Example "My hands clean I washed at the mud on my face." There are so many ways to correct this, the easiest being a simple comma after clean. Better would be "After cleaning my hands, I washed the mud off my face." These types of errors are in many of the sentences. Last year, I read a book with such a good storyline, that I sent an email recommending a proofreader for the next book, and they did. If you want to be taken seriously, don't assume that writing like you talk is ok. Will I read more to see if the story is good enough to plod through the writing? If so, I may write another review later.
