Christine has written yet another emotional roller coaster. I held tight for the ride from beginning to end. Things flowed full of Aydan's and Zane's unique character voices. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend this novel as an upper YA novel. There's no graphic craziness but it touches upon sensitive topics better suited for 15/16 and above. Darkly beautiful.

Libera Me Christine Fonseca 9780985180485 Books Reviews

Seriously!! There are no words to begin to describe how I am feeling right now, after finishing this AMAZING book. I think I will take the opportunity to thank the brilliant and wonderful Christine Fonseca for allowing me to read this mind blowing sequel before everyone else. I am honoured more than you know and am truly thankful and grateful for being given the opportunity. Let me tell you, I am completely in awe, totally floored and in love with the words you write. Words, which breathe life into the remarkable stories you weave. Not stories, but eloquent poems that tear at your heart and rip at your soul, in such a good way, of course.

Libera Me will have you holding your breath the entire time you read it. You will not exhale until you read the final sentence and even then you are left breathless and wanting so much more. Your mind will be spinning a million miles per hour, your heart will be pounding, you will be screaming and gripping the edge of your seat. And, even after all that, you will be experiencing all three characters falling apart and you can do nothing but find yourself falling in a tunnel of torment, your heart, shattering into a million little pieces. I swear to you that you will be as fragmented as Nesy, Aydan and Zane. These souls are so tortured and beyond despair, you find yourself feeling so much pain and anguish along with them. Half the time they don't know what is real or not. Their minds are being warped by Azza, by the smoke. But, what remains true through all of this confusion and turmoil is their love. Aydan's undying love for Nesy; Zane's sacrifice and love for Nesy. These two would stop at nothing to help Nesy find out who she really is. Unlock the memories that have been lost to her. It really is heart breaking and gut wrenching. I have come to realise that Christine Fonseca is the Queen of Torment. She really knows how to take you on a journey that will have you spiralling out of control but then ground you with just one breath of a word.

I really don't know what else to say. There is no need for me to go into detail about what happens in this story. There is just too much to even try to explain and I would not do it justice. All I do know is how I felt while reading this story that will keep you wanting so much more and needing to unravel the mystery of what is yet to come. I am now dying to get my hands on book 3 *I will it to be written now ;)* and I can seriously understand why Christine Fonseca was so torn between these two. My heart belongs to both Aydan and Zane. The sacrifices, the anguish, the horror, the love and the undying faith. They really would stop at nothing to do what is right for Nesy, no matter what the consequences. My heart ached for both of them and I just about nearly died a thousand deaths over and over again. Talk about torment.

If you loved Lacrimosa, I guarantee that you will love Libera Me just as much, if not more. And if you have yet to discover this series, I say run, don't dawdle to pick it up. This series is a must read and you will wonder why you ever waited to read it.
I know I have said this before and I will say it again, Christine Fonseca is an artist who has aspired to create a work that speaks volumes in love. This book is true poetry at it's best and I cannot wait to devour so much more. Love Love Love Love this book. Love this series. And, love Christine Fonseca.
"How do I tell her she is a trained assassin for Celestium, a Sentinal whose job it is to kill? How do I help her see that her memories are real?" -Aydan

"Libera Me" book 2 of the Requiem Series by Christine Fonseca picks up a few months after we last saw Aydan in a high school in Puget Sound, Washington. Aydan is now in a relationship with a girl named Vanessa, Nessa for short, who has no memories of her life for the last 15 years as she was kidnapped when she was three. Or at least that is the story she believes. Aydan believes that it is his Nesy, alive and human. He is determined to help her remember him and what they meant to each other.

But is Nessa really Nesy? The Council of Celestium doesn't think so when Zane, Nesy's best friend and a Mediator, reveals what he has learned from watching Aydan and Nessa. The Council, all save Mikayel, believe Nesy dead. What they do not know is the deal struck between Zane and the demonic smoke (that just sounds evil!!) to keep Nesy alive after she sustained a wound from Azza at the end of book one. What was a part of this deal? Zane gave all his memories of Nesy and his angelic senses to the smoke in exchange for Nesy to live, even if only as a human. However Zane becomes obsessed with finding her, making sure that what he lost still lived.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this addition to the Requiem series. I fell in love with Zane, who we get to see his POV in this book along with Aydan's. In book one, I saw Zane as the obnoxious, know-it-all best friend. No longer do I see him as this. He is heartbroken by Nesy's death and strikes a deal to keep her alive. Not just because they were friends, but because even though it is forbidden and she loves someone else, he loves her! And I love him for it! His passion and obsession with his friend melted my heart. I cried with him, felt his joy and his anger.

Aydan however I still don't love. I'm so apathetic towards this character. I just cannot seem to get his suffering. He chose to avenge Nesy and take a deal with Azza. He chose to become the Beast. Now as he tries to redeem himself as a human, he still has those same urges, to kill and feed on the desperation and fear around him. He loves Nessa, a girl who may or may not be Nesy who is supposed to be his one true desire, his destiny. Just like in book one, there is a lot of wishy-washy feelings with Aydan. Will he succumb to the beast? Is it just nightmares or did it really happen? I was confused a majority of the time when I was reading Aydan's POV. But I think this was on purpose, because really Aydan is bipolar. He has both a soul and the Beast residing in him. The question is will he let it out?

When I read book one, my favorite character was Azza, but he is missing in this installment. But you know what? It was okay that he was. Because there's a new villain, and you don't know who or what it is until the end so I'm not spoiling that one!!! However, it just makes for a great book when you know there is evil but you don't know who to blame or fight. It just builds the fear.

Then the conflict in Celestium. There's a lot of secrets being kept between the Council members, a lot of distrust between Zane, Cass, and Caim (the angel who replaced Nesy in their team). All of this builds up to what I hope will be an epic conclusion in Book 3.

The edition I received also contained two short novellas. The first "Mea Culpa" is Zane's story. This is what happened to Nesy and what did Zane really bargain with when he made his deal with the demonic smoke. I loved this insight and really wish I would've read it before reading "Libera Me" because it would've added to the story. The second "Enigma" is Lorelei's story of the Seers. This gives a huge insight into how Lorelei survived after Elle/Nesy was killed in Germany. There's a surprise character in it that I was shrieking for joy when I read the name. And I feel that this short story will be influential in Book 3.

If you've not read book one Lacrimosa, please do yourself a favor and read it first. Otherwise you will be lost in book two and you definitely want to read book two! I loved this story and cannot wait to start on book three and see what happens to Nesy, Aydan, Zane, Cass, Caim, and Azza.

***I received a copy of this ebook from the author in exchange for an honest review.***
im waiting for the next installment because i just have to know whats going to happen with ayden. hopefully nesy can save him but you never know..
This whole series is exceptional. It really gives the reader a new perspective about heaven, hell and everything in between. Most enjoyable and thought provoking . A must read!
this series is so awesome and different. I love the story line with the angels. Not too many authors use this line of imagination. I love the excitement, the fighting and all the awesome plot twists. Completely worth any ones time. it is one of my favorite books!!
