I liked this story of a rocker and the damaged (literally) young woman he meets and falls in love with on a private jet. There were a few things that I was a little put off by: the speed their romance took off...it was a bit unrealistic for a supposed bad boy rocker to fall in love with her in a couple of days and her behavior on the flight at their first meeting was really childish and inappropriate (especially when she was working for her dad who told her he really "needed" his business).
Besides a few typos and parts where things just seemed to move along way too quickly with little explanation, it had a lot of interesting twists and turns and definitely, the sexy scenes between Aubrey and Jake were hot but not too explicit.
There was a lot of pretty disturbing and sickening violence that occurs towards Aubrey (both in present day and past) but that is what makes her the tough survivor she is and the strong partner that Jake needs to be by his side. Battlescars definitely refers to more than the name of Jake's band....
All in all I enjoyed reading this book and am ready to jump into Part 2 (Blake and Piper's story)...which I am looking forward to because of the kinky chemistry those two had in this book.

Cleaning out the library weekend started with this little story of a reformed bad boy rocker and his pursuit to break down the walls around the heart of the woman he can't get enough of.

Jake meets Aubrey on his private chartered plane his label hired to chauffeur him around to his tour dates, she is the owner's daughter and flight attendant. Jake, an open book, is immediately attracted to Aubrey's unfiltered tongue and natural beauty and let's her know it every chance he gets. Aubrey on the other hand has her guard up, she has a past that keeps all at arm's length. . Knowing he had to be her friend first and earn Aubrey's trust, Jake pulled out all the stops to make the ice melt and show Aubrey she can love again. They both have a past, but how Jake deals with his helps Aubrey realize she can trust this man.

This story is more the story of Aubrey's demons. It seems we already meet Jake at a point where he is ready to leave the past behind and do the right thing. Jake is a good guy here through and through and hard not to love. Most of his fellow band members are still living the hard life he has grown tired of. He meets the love of his life at the perfect moment.

This story has a lot of fun and quirky characters, Aubrey's grandma being one of the most endearing and irreverent at the same time.

This is an entertaining, quick story and since I already have book 2 I will see how Blake and Piper figure their stuff out. I think he has definitely met his match with her.
I love a book with a strong female who can hold her own! This book has that and so much more! Throw in HOT Rock star Jake, his band mates, her best friend (Piper), and her Granny (OMG) and you have a fantastic and hilarious story! Sophie has wrote an amazing story and I can't wait for more from this series!

In Battlescars you meet Aubrey Thompson! She is one of those people who you know not to mess with! She will tell you exactly what she is thinking and where you can go without blinking! I love her smartass comments and how she puts people in their place! But in the same sentence she is vulnerable and you can tell is hiding behind that smart attitude. Someone has hurt Aubrey and Jake Parker has every intention of breaking down her walls and claiming her! Jake is the sexy as hell lead singer for Battlescars. He is well known for his reputation as a bad boy ladies man! But what you see in the tabloids is not all that there is to him! Yes he is completely "balls to the wall" in everything he does, but he also is so sweet! I mean seriously some of the sweet stuff he does for Aubrey (swoon) and even other people… made me want to find my own Jake!

"My Granny always says, 'women are like angels, when someone breaks our wings we continue to fly around on our broomsticks because we're flexible like that."

These two first meet when Aubrey's dads company flies Jake and his band around for a last minute tour. Aubrey didn't want to go but when her dad asked she agreed and becomes their flight attendant for the whole tour. Jake is immediately attracted to Aubrey but also finds her a challenge, because she won't even acknowledge him! Little does Jake know that Aubrey despises rock stars… but that is all part of her past and she refuses to give into Jake's charm. Just as she tells herself that, she starts feeling comfortable around him… and that doesn't usually happen around guys!

It will be a long road for them because they both have deep scars and are still healing! But Jake has to get Aubrey to open up and trust him! And Aubrey is scared because she doesn't know if she can risk getting hurt again! I am definitely Team Jake!!! I loved him and thought he was so sweet and romantic and SWOON WORTHY! A great start to what promises to be an amazing series! Can't wait to get to know more of these characters!!!
